ONE LAST CHANCE TO WEIGH IN ON THE US 79 REDESIGN

US 79 in Round Rock is set for a significant overhaul aimed at easing congestion and preparing for rapid development along the corridor. Plans include widening the highway to three lanes in each direction and adding a raised median to make travel safer for drivers.

Major intersection upgrades are in the works, including a new overpass at A.W. Grimes Boulevard, a redesigned junction with Mays Street, and changes at the I-35 connection. Driveway and access modifications are also being considered to ease traffic flow.

To encourage alternative transportation, the project includes new shared-use paths for pedestrians and cyclists on both sides of the roadway. Community feedback remains a key part of the process as the project team continues to refine plans to meet current and future needs.
