Round Rock’s New Fiscal Year Is Underway — Here’s What Residents Should Know |
The city’s FY2027 plan puts major attention on public safety, infrastructure and quality-of-life investments as the new fiscal year begins. |
Round Rock’s new fiscal year began Oct. 1. The City’s current FY2027 budget materials outline a $684.1 million plan, including $192.5 million for the General Fund and $297.9 million for the Community Investment Program. City materials say the plan focuses on infrastructure, public safety and quality-of-life investments. The City’s FY2027 materials list a proposed property-tax rate of 42.3 cents per $100 of valuation. At that rate, the City estimates a median taxable-value home of $370,288 would pay about $131 per month in City property taxes—about $8 more per month than the prior year’s median-home estimate. The City is only one taxing entity on a property-tax bill, so that figure is not a homeowner’s total property-tax payment. Why the increase? City budget materials attribute the additional revenue above the no-new-revenue rate to public-safety staffing and operations, operating costs tied to voter-approved bond projects, and debt payments on those projects. At the same time, the FY2027 plan is smaller than the adopted FY2026 budget, largely because capital-project spending changes from year to year. For residents: The useful question over the coming months is how those dollars translate into visible services—police and fire staffing, roads, water and wastewater infrastructure, parks and other projects around town. Round Rock is building toward a more connected trail system that links neighborhoods, parks, schools, businesses and downtown.
The updated 2026 Trails Master Plan focuses on closing gaps in the existing network, including Heritage Trail East along Brushy Creek.
Once complete, the project will strengthen an important east-west connection through the city and help turn individual trail segments into a system residents can use for recreation and getting around. Read More... |
