Matthew Stephen, MD

Dr Stephen Ponder chose a career in health care following his diagnosis of type 1 diabetes at age 9, an experience that inspired his dedication to pediatric endocrinology. He finds great fulfillment in caring for children and adolescents with endocrine conditions and diabetes, working closely with families to help them achieve healthy, well-balanced lives. Outside of clinical practice, Dr Ponder is actively involved in community service, including directing a residential diabetes camp program and supporting a free clinic for uninsured children. He and his wife also enjoy spending time with their grandchildren.

Dr Perez-Stokes chose a career in medicine because it combines her passion for science with the opportunity to improve the health and well-being of others. She enjoys the challenge of solving complex medical problems while helping patients achieve their personal health goals. As a primary care physician, Dr Perez-Stokes values building lasting relationships with her patients. Dr Shahid Javaid is a board-certified pediatric gastroenterologist with an interest in providing family-centered care for GI disorders and educating medical students and residents. Dr Javaid is a member of the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition. He is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric gastroenterology. When not working, he enjoys hiking and traveling.
